Holiday No-Nos

Don’t Put That In Your Mouth !

The tree is up, the lights are strung, but what is the dog eating !?!?!

Christmas time is here again and we want our furry friends to feel all the holiday cheer that we do. We may get them little presents and include them in the family picture ... they may even get a special Christmas outfit too. Some may want to treat them to some special food to include them in the festivities.

This is where we MUST be very careful.

Not all foods are good for our dogs, no matter how much they seem to gobble them down. Here’s why:

1. Their digestive systems can be sensitive and they may be unable to tolerate some of the foods we like, leading to gastric and intestinal upset, causing diarrhea and vomiting.

2. Feeding too many treats or table scraps may cause them to stop eating their own dog food, meaning they would no longer be getting a balanced diet. It then becomes difficult to get them to switch back.

3. Some foods are TOXIC ! They can have such bad effects that they cause seizures, increased heart rate, kidney failure, liver failure and even death.

Below are some key foods to beware of for the upcoming holidays and beyond:

The season brings lots of cheer but let's remember to keep our loved ones safe by making sure they stay healthy.

Till next time ...

Stay Safe Everyone !
